Lemonade.com Review

According to Lemonade.com:

“For many of us, setting up a neighborhood lemonade stand was our introduction to entrepreneurship. It taught us life lessons in responsibility, self-reliance and hard work. In a similar way, lemonade inc. enables people to combine commerce and community in the digital neighborhood of their personal online space. We are proud to be on the forefront of Consumer Generated CommerceTM. Cost-free and easy to use, this is the next generation of the old-fashioned Lemonade Stand concept. We are also committed to fostering the use of lemonade stands by people who want to raise money to support a good cause. We hope to help you promote the activities that you are passionate about. To do our part, lemonade donates a percentage of our company's revenue to several non-profit organization partners. We hope we can be a small part of creating a better world.”

Sounds good! Here is their Q & A.

I registered with this site in August, 2008 with much interest. I built my Lemonade stands and let them fly. What happened? I have had 172 Stand Views and 170 Stand Clicks. No sales. No money coming in, nothing. But to be fair to Lemonade, that is also without any outside promotion. Until now.

At the time of this writing the top 16 most viewed stands range from 33,526 views to 249,597 views. Those are all time total views, most over a year or less.

Once you have created your stands you can put them on Facebook, MySpace, Blogger, People Connection, Yahoo 360, and Vox to help drive traffic, according to Lemonade.

Opinion: lemonade.com seems like a complete waste of time, but I am willing to put their (my) link on this blog just to see what happens. My nephew Toby told me I had a few product link rots on a couple of stands already, after only two months. The other aspect of Lemonade I don’t like is the feeling you are offering products you only have limited knowledge of.

I decided to wait to put up a banner on this site until I actually wrote about Lemonade. I will give you an update in a month or so to let you know how it is coming along. I am not expecting much.

Am I way off? Do you have Lemonade stands? Are they making you any money?

  1. Buck,

Thank you for using Lemonade! We love all of your stands, especially “The Cinema Stand” as we are huge Blade Runner and Star Wars fans. To answer your question, we have have over 37,000 lemonade stand owners and many of them have been successful. Some of our favorites include a mom who is raising money for autism - she ;has made over $200, a passionate dancer has sold over $185 in dresses on her blog, and a small business owner suggesting hot technology products has made over $250.

We want you to be successful, so here are a few suggestions that will hopefully help you make money:

    * e-mail your stand or stand link to everyone you know
    * put your stands up on all of your personal websites – which you have started to do with posting it on the BuckList.
    * set up wish-list stands for you and your family members (birthdays, the holidays, etc.)
    * buy products from your own stands that you would normally buy anyway for a built in discount by earning commission

We are working hard to make Lemonade an effective service for you. To that end, we are launching Lemonade 2.0 in November with several enhancements including:

    * a new full-page “store front” with multiple product views to compliment your widget view
    * ability to write reviews/ratings of each product
    * sophisticated product search and retailer special collections
    * new retailer relationships increasing our number of products from 2 million to 15 million
    * better lemonade stand marketing and optimization tools
    * better shopping experience for your visitors, e.g., shop by product, brand, person, etc.

We appreciate your feedback and will work with you to make Lemonade a productive money-making service in your life. Thanks again for setting up your stands! Please let us know if you have any ideas for us, or if we can be of further assistance.

    Best of luck.

    Shelley Sheridan
